In-motion rail weighing systems
A totally new concept in rail weighing and wagon monitoring, the combination of the Schenck Process direct and In-motion weighing technology.
As a static system it eliminates the need for a costly pit and large floating platform. The system in most cases can be fitted without the need for a pit and can directly replace the existing rail sleeper. The system is ideal for the balancing of the axle loads during rolling stock assembly.
As an In-motion system the Multirail is a highly accurate weighing system, designed for use in the most arduous environments. The system is can function at train speeds 0 - 9km/h and when the system is not weighing, train pass over speed is only limited by the rail. The system is not affected by temperature changes in the rail as the weighbeams units are not mounted into or on the rail. The concept of the system is simple, the complete wagon bogie is weighed on the weighbeam bridge and summed to give wagon and train weight. The advantages of this system over a conventional moving point load analysis is simple, the Multirail measures the true mass of each end of the wagon and simply adds the two weights. This means train speed is not as critical in the calculation, the wagon recognition is not a factor in the weight calculation and the system can be statically calibrated using test weights. The Multirail offers simple service as the weighbeam units are separate to the rail structure, suspect units can be individually tested and replaced without affecting the rail structure

The Multirail system can also be supplied with WheelScan a unique system that detects flat spots, wagon overload or wagon spring damage on the rolling stock wheels even at normal train speeds.
The system offers accuracies in a static application of 0.02% and dynamically of 0.5% for total train weight. Can be configured for Legal for Trade approval (pending).
